1818 is a quarterly magazine delivered exclusively to thousands of donors who support the Illinois Policy Institute. Cutting through the noise of nonprofit communications, our team builds each issue of 1818 around a compelling visual theme, custom illustrations, striking colors, data visualization, and storytelling from across the state. To keep each issue fresh and entertaining, we pulled inspiration from tarot cards, Halloween movies, fairy tales, holiday cards, circuses, propaganda posters, children’s authors, and Christmas movies. After a theme is chosen, our creative team works with our editor to craft headlines and custom illustrations that clearly convey the topic of each article.
This work has earned four international Davey Awards in the design/print category, including gold awards for art direction, editorial illustration, cover art, and overall design excellence for a consumer magazine.
